LLLT comes to dentistry

LLLT comes to dentistry

There is a large body of published clinical evidence for the effects of Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) on musculoskeletal pain.

Systematic reviews published by the Lancet, BMJ, International Association for the Study of Pain show that LLLT improves the speed and quality of tissue repair, reduces inflammation and has an analgesic action.

Now the European Society for Medical Oncology suggests using LLLT to reduce the incidence of oral mucositis and its associated pain, in patients receiving high-dose chemotherapy or chemoradiotherapy.

There is growing evidence that LLLT works well on a range of oral pathologies and is beneficial for orthodontic procedures and orofacial pain syndromes.

These include improvements in

  • Tooth movement
  • Osseointegration of implants
  • Post extraction pain
  • Paresthesia
  • TMJ Dysfunction
  • Dentine Hypersensitivity
  • Trismus
  • Herpes simplex
  • Bone density
  • Trigeminal Neuralgia
  • Aphthous ulcers
  • Tonsillitis
  • Periodontal disease
  • Bells Palsy
  • Osteonecrosis

LLLT can also reduce the use of anaesthesia for children or be used to reduce the local discomfort of injections.

THOR is a dedicated LLLT manufacturer and training company. We have a CE mark for osteoarthritis, tendinopathies, neck pain and oral mucositis. We also have FDA clearance for temporary relief of muscle and joint pain.
