Return To Work After Severe Rotator Cuff Injury

Rotator cuff injuries, which involve the muscles and tendons that stabilize the shoulder, usually result from the arm being pulled out of place due to a fall, lifting, or repetitive arm activities.

Fortunately, even patients who could not return to work after undergoing traditional physical therapy (following surgery to repair their torn muscles or ligaments) can be helped by resistance training with free weights. In fact, a six week program in which patients train with free weights two hours a day, five days a week, is effective in helping workers overcome severe rotator cuff injuries. The daily program begins with warm-up, stretching, and core exercises for balance and proper biomechanics, followed by free-weight resistance training of the upper and lower body.

If you have suffered from a rotator cuff injury and are contemplating surgery, have your physician refer you to our facility for post surgical rehab by calling (949) 429-3220. We will develop a personalized plan of treatment so that you can return to work or resume normal activities as soon as possible. We provide the latest technology and rehabilitation techniques for both post-surgical and post-accident rehab, sports medicine, and treatment of sprains, strains, and overuse injuries. We are conveniently located at 27136 B Paseo Espada, Suite 1103, San Juan Capistrano.

P.S. Patients with rotator cuff injuries may also perform exercises that are designed to simulate the type of physical labor they do at work.
